By the road from Siguatepeque, reaching La Esperanza, there is the Laguna Madre Vieja, and at the highest part of town (above 1600 m sea level) is the Laguna Chiligatoro.

Very little is known about their characteristics such as their depth and the kind of wild life they sustain. Perhaps you will discover the secrets of the area.

Both sweet water ponds are frequented by nature loving tourists. Visitors flock during the dry season, specially during Easter when in 2008, 2500 tourists visited Chiligatoro.
