The Intibuca Foundation for Development (FUNIDE), endorses the “Choro” and Wine Festival held every June to promote the attractions of the area: Breathtaking scenery and live Lenca culture.
Choro is an edible wild mushroom widely appreciated for its fine flavor. According to Roman history, it was one of the favorite dishes of Roman Emperors. Choro is found at the Cordillera de Opalaca, the highest plateau in the country (1800m above sea level) abundant in the organic material essential for the mushroom growth.
