Casa Del Arroyo La Esperanza, Honduras

Founded in 1600 and called Cerquin given its nearness to the Cerquin hill, this is one of the oldest towns in the country. It was promoted to “city” in March 1932. Around the city there are several hills covered with pine trees in a fertile volcanic soil. Weather is fair all year round.

It is possible to reach Erandique by San Juan del Caite, Intibuca, or through the town of Dolores also in Intibuca. However this last route becomes impassable during the rainy season.

Erandique downtown is rather hilly, its streets are cobbled and with very quaint abode homes. There are also two historical churches that attract a good number of visitors. There are several food stalls that serve Erandique typical fare. There is also a restaurant that serves seafood.
