Yamaranguila Town is located in Intibucá, with a land extension of 312.5 km2. Its former name was Zabalanquira, that means Water From the Pyramid.  They celebrate a Town Fair in December every year, San Lucia Day and San Francisco Day.

Yamaranguila’s main activities are forest use, greens and fruit crops and coffee plantations.

Other activities of the region are woodcraft and pottery that is brought to La Esperanza Market and also to Siguatepeque, Comayagua and Tegucigalpa.
